Yoga for Sex

Yoga for Sex

“Not only is yoga an amazing stress reliever, but certain postures improve flexibility, increase blood flow, and open your heart—all of which are necessary for a hot sex life,” says Ellen Barrett, author of the book Sexy Yoga. Here are a few asanas that you can try at home for a satisfying sex life:

  • Sarvangasana (Bridge Pose)

Strengthening your pelvic floor provides longevity to the sexual act, decreases the pain of sex and enhances the pleasure experience (increasing your likelihood to engage more daringly in kinky sex) and this interesting asana helps to build that strength. In this asana, the weight of the whole body is transferred to the neck, upper arms, head and upper back. Keeping your hands behind your back, lift your pelvic region off the ground followed by your torso. Allow your shoulders and head to stay put on the ground.

  • Padmasana (Lotus Pose)

The most common seating position in Yoga is the Padmasana or lotus pose. Here, you have to place both your feet on and above the opposite thighs – sitting cross-legged. This asana helps to strengthen your lower back and spine.

  • Halasana (Plough Pose)

Keeping your hands firmly stuck to the ground and parallel to your body, raise your legs upwards and stretch it behind your head. This asana stretches your shoulder muscles and hamstrings, thereby lowering the ailments caused due to their tension, like insomnia and fatigue. The organs in the abdomen are deeply stimulated, enriching the sexual power in both, males and females.

  • Uddiyana Bandha (Stomach Lock)

Exhaling your breath entirely, pull in your stomach underneath your rib-cage to create a hollow. Hold this position for some time and then release those muscles, followed by inhaling. This exercise helps in harnessing the energy to the superior levels of the body. The calmness developed through practising Uddiyana Bandha helps in developing your sexual drive – stimulating self-confidence.

  • Sirhasana (Headstand)

Being the king of all asanas, this asana has health benefits manifold. It involves standing on the head with the support of one’s forearms. Sirhasana eases the nerve sensibility and helps augment sexual function.

  • Viprita Karani (Legs Up the Wall Pose)

This exercise is exactly what its name suggests. Keeping the hands firmly attached to the ground and parallel to the body, you have to hold your legs at an angle of 90 degrees against a wall. This exercise helps by rushing the blood circulation in the pelvic region, strengthening your core and making sex a joyful and long-lasting experience for you and your partner.

  • Mula Bandha (Root Lock)

This is quite simple and can be performed anytime, anywhere. For instance, while sitting on your desks at your workplace, as frequently as 10-12 times in a day.  It involves contracting and lifting the pubococcygeus muscle and the internal tissues surrounding it from your naval to the anus, raising it in the general direction of the spine, as if you are trying to control your urination.

  • Pranayama (Breathing Exercises)

Stress, fatigue and lack of confidence can sometimes diminish your sexual energy. To put yourself back in the game, practicing simple Pranayama or breathing exercises can help enhance your stamina. Lie on the floor and rest your legs against the wall. Focus on your breathing while you inhale the air through your nose and exhale it out of your mouth. This exercise will help you feel rejuvenated and you will be able to enjoy sex without feeling tired or fatigued.

Increased awareness is an essential element in a healthy sex life and Yoga will help you achieve just that. Moreover, these techniques are beneficial for both, men and women.

Yes, I agree with you. Yoga Poses are especially beneficial for Sex and Sexual Health. Wide-Legged Straddle can be alo a great posture to try. This forward bend increases the range of motion in your hips and also boosts blood flow to the pelvis.
